回家吧啊

Well I’m back and I didn’t post once on this blog during my year in China, and for that, I’m sincerely sorry.

But I did post a few blogs here and there on a different blog I created for my family to keep up with me! Now I’m not under any illusions that y’all want to spend your precious time reading about my past adventures, but I’ll link you to the blog anyways, just in case ;).

twelvehourahead.wordpress.com

(Yes twelvehoursahead.wordpress.com was taken, what can ya do?)

I’m gonna get back into reading and whip out a few amazing book reviews by the end of the summer and I hope you’ll be able to join my on my reading adventures since you didn’t get to experience China with me!

I missed updating this site and I hope to connect with y’all again!

{Update: I’d love to hear what everyone has been up to, so give me a pow and a wow of your year! I’ll start, my wow was that I met so many amazing people in China and got a 4 on my Chinese AP exam and my pow was that I had to return to America}.

用中文怎么说 I’M BACK!

So you might be confused as to what the squiggles in my title mean. Well they are Chinese for: How do  you say…. in Chinese?

I’m sure this means nothing to you, and seems totally irrelevant to anything going on right now. But, it basically explains how I spent my summer. I went to the bustling metropolis of Poultney, Vermont to converse in Chinese and ONLY Chinese for a whole month.

During my Chinese adventure I resided at Green Mountain College, which has the legacy of slaying their campus oxen and serving them in the dining hall. Don’t worry. That was before I got there.

Meet Bill and Lou. The campus dinner.

One requirement of participating in the language program was staying true to the Language Pledge, which basically stated that we couldn’t speak, listen to, write, read, think, or breathe in English.

I could deal with all of those conditions, except for one. And I don’t know if you can guess it but, it was reading. I didn’t even consider following that rule. I had contraband stashed throughout my dorm room; books behind dressers, in drawers, in my laundry bag, my suitcases, and between my bed frame and my mattress.

Every single time I heard something outside my dorm, I chucked the book I was reading at the time behind the wall of my study carousel and pretended to be sleeping. I have to say that there were a few close calls, but in the end all was well because I got to read some amazing books this summer.

Reviews soon to come.

Thank You So Much

To all of my followers and the people who have liked my posts, thank you! Especially to those who I didn’t go and thank on your blog. I just started mine and I already have way more likes and followers than I did on any of my other blogs and I’m so happy some people are seeing my posts. So all of y’all are awesome! 🙂

National Day of Silence

For the first time ever, my school will be participating in the National Day of Silence. If you don’t already know what this is, it is a day where students all over the country take a vow of silence for a whole day to protest the bullying and harassment of LGBT students. This is also to support the LGBT students in their school that are silent about their true selves every single day and try to make them feel comfortable in school.

I am so excited that my school is allowing us to participate in this peaceful protest and is reaching out to students that are afraid to be themselves. Tomorrow students who choose to participate wear a badge on their uniform to tell people that they are being silent and those who can’t be silent will be able to get a wristband to show their support.

So to stay true to my vow of silence I will not be blogging tomorrow and will see all of ya’ll (I really don’t think I can avoid saying ya’ll anymore) on Saturday.

If you are interested getting your school involved with this cause or want more information on the National Day of Silence visit their website.

Are you participating tomorrow? Does your school allow it?

Wattpad Will Be The Death of Me

I read Wattpad so much that I barely every read the fifty billion books I have sitting on my nook waiting to be read. It’s absolutely awful, but I love Wattpad. I love meeting writers that have such amazing and funny personalities like the ones on Wattpad, especially since a lot of them are around my age.

I have a place to showcase some of my own stuff (I have deactivated my account for the moment) and co-write with my friends. It’s so much fun, everything is free, and there are so many amazing stories from about every genre you could think of.

I’m sure all of ya’ll (damn it, I said I wouldn’t say ya’ll) have heard of Wattpad before, but if you haven’t, I’m going to warn you now:

Don’t get one unless you are prepared to lose your mind and any semblance of a life (Well I guess you lost the life part when you got a blog if you’re anything like myself).

But to help you with the losing your mind part because I don’t want to be alone in this:

Trying to Rock Socks and Sandals

You know every one bags on socks and sandals, but I feel like they are pretty cool.
I mean I would never wear them except when I’m too lazy to take my socks off, but come on its not that bad!

Deep Down South… I still hope I never say ‘Ya’ll’

So this is my first post (technically my second, but the first one was a quote). Ahhh! I’ve wanted to do a book blog forever and I have tried (and failed) repeatedly. I think it’s actually become a rule in my life that all my blog attempts crash and burn. But now that every blogging platform has upgraded to a quasi-tumblr type thing I think it’s safe to say that at least some of my posts will be seen. Hopefully this one will be the exception to the rule.

This is me by the way. Don’t be scared off by the pretentious Englander snooty look on my face. I just like to dress up and make faces.

I don’t have any real expectations that people will actually see my reviews, but if they do… yeah I still don’t have any expectations for them to come back. Haha. Sorry small pity party. Anyways, I hope ya’ll enjoy and that I never say ‘ya’ll’ again. *small shudder*

If you do find me. Don’t be a bitch (I mean that in the kindest way). Be an amazing human being. Follow me. Enjoy my book reviewing expertise (if you can call it that). Don’t stop believing. Oops, we’re going Journey now. I’m done. Kisses. xxx
